About Glendale
The small farming community of Glendale occupies a narrow spot in Long Valley, in a mountainous region of southern Utah. Watered by the Virgin River, and by winter snows, fields of grassland, dotted by cottonwood trees, cover the valley, with forests of juniper and scrub oak in the surrounding mountains. In places, the White Cliffs line the mountain slopes, a feature of the nearby Grand Staircase National Monument.
Glendale was settled in 1871 by Mormon pioneers. The population is 355. U.S. Highway 89 passes through Glendale, as it follows Long Valley north and south. Glendale is in a remote area with few towns and no large cities. The elevation is 5,800 feet.
