About Beaver County

Stretching from the 12,000 foot peaks of the Tushar Mountain Range on the east, to the desert basins along the Nevada border, Beaver County covers 2,590 square miles of remote country with an average of 2.3 persons per square mile. While beautiful forested peaks can be found in the Tushar Mountains, sagebrush, Juniper trees, and wide empty valleys characterize most of Beaver County.

As of the year 2000, Beaver County is home to 6,005 people. The city of Beaver, which is the county seat, lies along the Interstate 15 corridor at the base of the Tushar Mountains. Manila and Minersville lie further west. These three towns are the main populated areas in the county.

The city of Beaver was founded in 1856, and Beaver County was organized at the same time. Mormon settlers, mining and the railroad all contributed to the settlement of the area.
