About Rockland

Being the only town in Rockland Valley, Rockland lies secluded amidst a country of hilly farmland. The spacious valley extends for miles to the north and south, opening into the Snake River Basin to the north. To the west mountains reach only to about 6,000 feet, while on the east, they reach about 7,500 feet. Rock Creek, which flows through the valley, forks near the town with a south fork following the valley southward, and an east fork heading towards the mountains rimming the valley. Along the various roads leaving town, scattered farmhouses dot the valley for miles.

316 people live in Rockland, as of the 2000 census. The elevation at 4,640 feet. State Highway 37 passes north and south through town, connecting to American Falls, less than an hour to the north.
