Bedrock Mortars

About 15 feet to the south lie two pieces
of granite bedrock. Both rocks contain
deep mortar holes in which Cahuilla
women ground mesquite beans and
other seeds. After you have looked at the
holes, try to imagine how long it took to
grind them that deep.
